11-11-11 (2011)

Written and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, this movie follows two brothers who come to believe that the date 11-11 has ominous connotations for them and their family.  It’s a movie with heavy religious tones, so it may not be for everyone.  Personally, I think it’s gonna piss off atheists and zealots alike.  Which I’m guessing is why my unbelieving brother didn’t like it so much.  That and the fact that he hated the motive, thought it was impossible to “win”, and he hates – and I do mean hates – twist endings.

But oh, the twist is good!!  At least as far as I’m concerned.  The whole story is good.  I liked the motive.  Sure, there were no rules, but I think that was the point.

We both did agree that the movie was scary.  DJ and I cursed at the TV more than once.  It also had a good cast, good direction and great effects.

DJ does not recommend the film of course, but I do.  You just have to go in with an open mind.

DJ gives it a 33/100.  I give it an 86.

About TaraRomero

I love 28 Days Later and insist that they are zombies. Infected zombies, but zombies. It's not like they're coming back, are they? No. I also have a strange obsession with Brainscan because I have a stranger obsession with Edward Furlong (mostly pre-drugged up Edward - bless his heart, I've met him and he's lovely and I'll love him till I die). Besides horror I'm addicted to writing about everything I see and think and feel. Also, I read a lot and watch too many game shows. Currently reading Poe and watching Idiotest.
